One of the more important aspects of achieving athletic success is personal belief, a belief that you can and know you will accomplish the goals you have set for yourself.
You must continuously and strongly believe in yourself and think positively about your goals. You must believe this throughout your training and athletic participation. Never doubt yourself, your abilities and what you are capable of doing.
Believe in success: Believe in victory! Not for a second should you think differently. Never think, “I can’t” or “I won’t”. If you think that, then you will condition a negative mind. You will lose your passion and commitment. If you believe you cannot do something, you will get discouraged and frustrated. You will eventually stop trying to succeed. You will fail. It’s that simple. But, if you strongly believe in yourself, if you constantly operate in the “I can” and “I will” frame of mind, and if you imagine and see yourself as a winner; you will create a positive attitude and become very motivated to participate in the steps required to reach your goals. This will ultimately lead to athletic success.
Never allow others to interfere with what you strongly believe. Do not allow others to tease or mock your goals or training. Do not allow them
to discourage you. Attending to the negative things people may say will convince you to believe that what they are saying is true.
Personal belief is very powerful and should be an on going, daily practice. Do not disregard what it will do for you athletically and mentally.
